1. Gaon TO BEGIN HOME PRODUCTION : SIGNAL CABLE FOR TGV
- Invested USD half a Million for 3 Years
- Contracted to Supply for Seoul-Pusan TGV trial Section

Gaon Cable Ltd. has recently succeeded to develop Signal
Cables for TGV And contracted to supply for Seoul-Pusan TGV
Trial-Section,which is under construction as a national
policy project of Korean government.About Three years and USD half a Million have been invested
in developing such high-shielded Signal cables for TGV for
the First Time in Korea.
According to Korea TGV Management Corporation on the July
23, 1998, Gaon awarded the first international Tender for
the supply of Trial-control and Signal cables to be installed
at Seoul-Pusan TGV trial Section,after successful pass of
strict qualification screening process imposed by the tender
Authority.
Particularly, it deserves general attention that those items
have been developed without any technical assistance by a
foreign origin, and further expected import substitution
would be about USD 5 Million only for the 1st Trial Section
of Seoul-Pusan TGV Project. Also,it speaks eloquently
Gaon's high technology that more than 70 kinds of strict
Type tests, inclusive of line impedance parameter
and shield test, have been carried out on cable samples of
Gaon prior to the final decision.
Mr.E.C. Bae, the former President of Gaon Cable Ltd.,
emphasized that such remarkable achievement resulted from
concentrated efforts to developvarious Specialty cables excellent
for accident prevention as well as several High performance
cables in recent years.
Meanwhile, Gaon added ZC 03 cable to be used for orbital
circuits at automatic train-control equipment and high-shield
cables such as ZPAU,ZPFU Cables to connect main signal
instrument room with Signaling equipment laid along the
railroad track,which features excellent Signal interference
effect, to What's new in product list. while ZC03 is being
considered critically important cables to operate TGV in
general, Especially Gaon's ZC03 is highly evaulated thanks
to its double layer type construction of electro-static and
magnetic shields.

(Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire)

Recently Gaon Cable Ltd. shows new type of OPGW
with integrated function of protection from lighting strikes
and data transmission, which satisfies customers with high
performance & reliability.
OPGW is installed on the top of steel tower and protect
main power transmission line from lighting strike to avoid
short-circuit current and on the other hand, it is used for
super high data transmission lines.
OPGW produced by Gaon is designed for the optical
fibers lied in loose tubes, which are made of high grade steel
and stranded together with aluminium alloy wire and
aluminium clad steel wire for the protection from external
force. And also these excellent properties shall be lessened
the loss and breakage of optic fiber.
In their major features, they are designed to satisfy
customers' requirements to transmit the data with high-speed
and large capacity, 3 times in transmission capability
comparing with conventional type and to be manufactured
up to 144 fiber cores. Also they have simple and flexible
construction enable to cover various rage of customers'
requirements. Furthermore, user can reduce their cost and
shorten installation period due to less backturning because
more than 2 layers construction and max. 7km of span length
Gaon licensed technical know-how from Brugg Telecom
AG, Switzerland in 1997 and approved their quality from
KEIT and KEPCO in 1998 and started to produce these
cables from early 1999. Mr. Kown S.D, executive director of
R&D center, expressed that this type of OPGW would be
highly welcome to customers in overseas market as well as
in domestic market due to high efficient installation and
large transmission capacity.
He said that when adapting in 765KV power transmission
line, it could cover the large transmission capacity to meet
the increasing demands of information data due to easy
installation and operation with low cost and came to
improve its' quality reliability. In case of replacement of
conventional type of cable, it shall reduce the economical
loss in replacing and reinstallation trouble line. Particularly, it
is estimated competitive and attractive product in price and
quality performance compared with conventional products. |
